The display was mounted onto a large sheet of plywood.  The display went on for several minutes with fountains showering the air and whistles and small reports breaking the silence of the night.  When the display finished all the people in the cul-de-sac applauded, it was pretty cool.  We helped clean up the cul-de-sac and spent some time socializing with the residents their.  Before we left they invited us to come back next year and asked if Lorne would be making any more displays?  Well, I guess we will have to wait until next year to see if Lorne does it again.

Attention All Car Owners

Our friends at the Western Washington Firebirds (WWF) will be hosting an all Pontiac car show to celebrate Pontiac's 75 years of driving excitement.  The event will take place in Everett Washington beginning Friday August 17 until Sunday August 19, 2001.  At this time we already have four or five cars registered to caravan up to Washington for the show.  The registration fee is $12 in advance and $15 the day of the event.  Our club is taking this opportunity not only to branch out and network but to also reciprocate the time and effort that Gregg Lathrop, a WWF member, took to come down and take part in the Trans-A-Rama as an honorary member of our club.  For more information and a registration form you can log onto the WWF website www.firebirdclub.com or contact Troy at 916-783-8681.  We will be leaving for the event on Friday morning August 17 and returning on Monday August 20.  Members of the club from the Sacramento/Roseville area will be meeting at 4:45 am, yes in the morning, on August 17 at the Levitz parking lot located on the Watt Avenue exit of I-80.  We will be departing at 5:00 am from Levitz.  Just in case you are running late that morning you can reach us on Troy's cell phone, 916-521-4457, but
please try your best to be there on time as to we want to leave promptly at 5:00 am!  For those of you from the Davis/Woodland area Lorne will be picking up the caravan on I-5 in Woodland.  I have not yet decided on an exact location.  I will post my location on our club's message board or if you wish you can contact me at 530-792-0789.  I will be at this location at 5:00 am to leave plenty of time to meet up with the rest of the group.  I do not have a cell phone so there is no way you will be able to contact me once I leave my home.  During the caravan we will be communicating with each other via the Motorola Talk About 2-way radios.  We squak, speak, on channel 2.  If you do not own one of these radios it would be wise to purchase one, since we also use them on all club runs.  The radios are around $40 and can be purchased at various stores such as Wal-Mart, Target, Office Depot, and REI to name a few.  Please do not forget to bring extra batteries.
You are probably wondering about accommodations.  The WWF have set up a special deal with the Best Western Cambridge INN.  The rooms are starting at a discounted price of $83.  All rooms have kitchen facilities and you also get access to the local 24-Hour fitness club.  Yes, some of us will probably take the time to get a quick workout in.  The Best Western's phone number is 877-488-0510.
This is going to be a really neat and exciting run.  If at the moment you feel that you cannot go but then miraculously change your mind at the last minute
please join us, you will have a great time!
